Barry Ryan Resigns as Cork City Women’s Manager

Cork City have announced the departure of Women’s First Team manager Barry Ryan after 6 months in charge.

The former Kilkenny FC player stepped up to take charge of Cork City in October 2025, after working with the under 19’s before that from January of 2025. He failed to win any senior games he managed during his time at Cork City.

Cork City have struggled for form so far this season, with City losing all 5 of their opening 5 matches, losing 4 games in the Premier Division and losing another in the All-Island Cup to Athlone Town and the Leesiders have only scored 1 goal in all competitions so far, that goal coming in a 4-1 loss to Wexford last Sunday. The last time Cork City won a game was back in April 2025 when they defeated Waterford 4-2 at Munster FA Turners Cross Stadium.

In a statement posted on the Cork City Website it read:

Cork City FC can confirm that we have, reluctantly, accepted the resignation of women’s first team manager, Barry Ryan.

After a very successful season managing our Women’s Under 19 team last season, Barry stepped up to the management team of the senior team ahead of the 2026 season.

Commenting on his decision, Barry said: “It has been a privilege to manage both the Under 19s and the seniors at Cork City. I would like to wish the players, staff and everyone at the club the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and into the future.”

The club would like to thank Barry for everything he has done in his time at the club and wish him every success in the future.

An update on the appointment of a new manager will be provided in due course.

Cork City are back in action on Saturday as they welcome league leaders Galway United to the Munster FA Turners Cross Stadium.
