The Former Oldham and Cork City Left-Back Benny Couto joins Waterford ahead of the 2026 League of Ireland season.
Couto recently played for relegated Cork City for the 2025 season proving to be a skilful player at times. Couto has also played for Ashton United, TNS (Wales) and Oldham. Despite an In-Season Injury which hampered his season under City boss, Ger Nash, Couto made 22 appearances for Cork City and made 2 assists. Couto is a left-back. Speaking on his singing to his new club, Couto said,
” I’m really happy to be here at Waterford now, and I’m really looking forward to the season and showing everyone what I can do, Hopefully we can go and have a great year at the RSC.”
The League of Ireland transfer season is in full flow. Waterford also announced the signing of Conan Noonan for a club record fee on a three year deal. Noonan played at the RSC last night during a loan spell from Shamrock Rovers.
Other signings across the league today have included Galway United announcing the signing of 23-year-old centre-back Gianfranco Facchineri from Canadian side Valour FC. In the first division, Kerry FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Harry Halwax from Longford Town.
