BREAKING: Ciara McCormack Steps Down as Treaty United CEO

Treaty United have today confirmed that Ciara McCormack has stepped down from her role as CEO of the Limerick side.

Ciara McCormack first joined Treaty United as a player in January 2023, making 3 appearances in the Women’s National League.

In October 2023, McCormack made League Of Ireland history by being announced as the first ever female CEO in the league when Treaty United were taken over by Tricor Pacific Capital, a Canadian investment firm.

The 2025 season has been a rollercoaster of a season both on and off the pitch for Ciara McCormack and Treaty United with fan protest looking for McCormack’s removal before a League Of Ireland First Division Fixture against Wexford FC.

This then spilled over to a war of words with McCormack responding to the protest with a statement on Linkedin which the Blue Army (Treaty United supporter group) later  responded to.

On the pitch it was a good season for the men’s and women’s sides with both of the teams recording record points totals, Tommy Barrett’s side going all the way to the First Division playoff final losing 1-0 to Bray Wanderers in the 90th minute. For the women’s side, they made it to the FAI Cup semi final losing out to Bohemians at Dalymount Park in a season where significant progress was made for the Limerick side.

In a statement released on the Treaty United website it reads:

Ciara McCormack to Step Down as Chief Executive Officer

Treaty United FC today announces that Chief Executive Officer Ciara McCormack will step down from her role effective 30 November 2025, concluding more than two years of transformative leadership.

During her tenure, Ciara delivered a series of historic milestones that reshaped Treaty United on and off the pitch. She led the club’s professionalisation, securing significant new investment and strengthening its financial, operational, and governance structures. Her leadership was central to achieving the first-ever long-term lease of the Markets Field for senior men’s and women’s football — a landmark step that secured a permanent home for the club and long-term stability for its future.

On the pitch, Treaty United achieved unprecedented success in 2025, with both the men’s and women’s senior teams recording their best-ever seasons. Ciara also oversaw key advancements within the club’s football and academy pathways, including negotiating Treaty United’s first outgoing player transfer, with goalkeeper Michael Dike joining Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in June 2025. Multiple boys academy players were also selected to Ireland Youth International squads during this period.

The women’s programme saw exceptional progress under Ciara’s leadership, highlighted by five players earning selection this month to the Ireland U19 Women’s National Team — a remarkable achievement reflecting the rapid development and competitiveness of the women’s pathway.

Speaking to club media following the announcement Ciara McCormack said ” “I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together during a transformative period for Treaty United. Professionalising the club, securing investment, strengthening financial and governance foundations, securing the long-term Markets Field lease, and seeing our senior teams and academy players reach new heights have been tremendous highlights. I want to thank everyone at Tricor and the ownership group, the board, players, staff, volunteers, supporters, and the wider Limerick community for their passion and belief. I wish the club every success in its next chapter and will always remain a supporter.”

The Treaty United board also made spoke to club media following the announcement saying:

“We thank Ciara for her leadership, commitment, and belief in Treaty United. She leaves the club on a stronger footing and with a clear path forward. We are grateful for her support during this transition and for the foundation she has helped establish.”
