Derry City kicked off their 2026 Premier Division season by defeating Sligo Rovers 2 – 1 at the Ryan McBride Brandywell on Friday night. Derry left it to the last 10 minutes to score their two goals, with Alex Bannon and Josh Thomas both scoring for the Candystripes.
Dundalk were meant to travel down to Tallaght on Friday night to face Champions Shamrock Rovers; however, that game got postponed due to heavy rainfall on Thursday night/Friday morning. The two sides will now face off on Monday, 23rd February at 8 pm.
