Sligo Rovers Set to Announce signing of Kevin Zefi

Sligo Rovers have completed the signing of former Inter Milan and AS Roma winger Kevin Zefi on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The news was exclusively revealed by Rep Tracker on Monday morning, following almost a year without a club.

Zefi, 21, has spent the last few weeks training at the Showgrounds under the watchful eye of John Russell and Rep Tracker understands a contract has been signed for Kevin Zefi to stay until the end of the LOI season.

The Dubliner is expected to be straight into contention in the matchday squad for this weekends Premier Division clash against Bohemians at the Showgrounds.

For followers of Irish football, Zefi’s immense potential is well known. Back in 2020, he played in the First Division with Shamrock Rovers II,writing his name into the history books as the youngest goalscorer in League of Ireland history at just 15 years and 206 days old. His raw pace and glittering technical ability quickly caught the attention of Europe’s elite, leading to a high-profile move to Italian giants Inter Milan in August 2021.

He later made a permanent switch to AS Roma in January 2024, but has spent time out of the game over the last year since departing the capital club. During his period as a free agent, the Ireland U21 international has been biding his time and training with various sides to maintain his sharpness.
