OFF-SEASON INTERVIEWS | Oisin Hand Interview

Hi everyone, Michał here. I’m here with another off-season interview. Last week, I said that this week’s interview will be with an Athlone Town AFC, and that’s true. Today, I will be showing you my interview with former Longford Town FC defender Oisin Hand. It will be quite a short interview, but it’s worth the read. Let’s Get Started!

You have signed for Athlone Town AFC. How do you feel about signing for them and what would you like to achieve with the team next season?

I was obviously delighted to sign for the club when I sat down with Ian and Steven I knew the club had great plans and were heading in the right direction so I wanted to be a part of it. We have signed some really good players so we’ll take each game as it comes and hopefully it’ll bring us where we want to be.

In terms of the 2025 season, would you consider it being a successful season for you or is there something you wished you would have done differently?

I think personally it was a successful season I thought it was one of my most consistent years, obviously just missing out on the playoffs was a disappointment but from my own point of view I think I developed my game and gave myself a platform to build on.

Were there any pre-match routines you did to prepare yourself to achieve the best results on the field?

I just make sure that I’m fuelled right with my nutrition and hydration throughout the week as soon as the previous game has finished so I recover right and to build into the next week ahead.

Having already played football for quite a long time and with good clubs, is there someone you admired from one of these clubs?

I would’ve taken a lot from Pico Lopes, Lee Grace and Gary O’Neill from my time at Shamrock Rovers. They were brilliant with me in helping me with my game and I’d always try and take pieces from there’s on and off the pitch in how they carried themselves.

What areas of your game are you most focused on improving next season, and how do you think Athlone Town AFC can help you develop as a player?

I just want to help the team as best as I can, to continue being consistent week in week out by putting in good performances and improve all areas of my game which will hopefully help the team most importantly.
