Hi and welcome back to our weekly off-season interviews, with me, Michał. Today, I’ll be bringing you interviews with Wexford FC midfielder Zayd Abada and Wexford FC loanee Ryan Ritchie.
First up is my interview with Zayd Abada, followed by my interview with Ryan Ritchie. Let’s get started!
You and the team nearly reached the playoffs this season. What’s one thing you’ll take from your mistakes this year to help you improve next season?
Zayd Abada: I think consistency is something we’ll need to work on. We had some good moments at the beginning and a great run towards the end of the season but overall just lacked some consistency throughout.
Is there a match from this season with Wexford that will probably stay in your memory for the rest of your career?
Zayd Abada: The 4-3 Kerry game at home for sure. 3-1 down with 10 men at half time, to come back from that showed huge character from the lads and the incredible Mike Rowe. To celebrate in front of the fans was a great feeling too.
Do you have any matchday routines or rituals that help you perform at your best on the field?
Zayd Abada: I’m not too superstitious to be honest, I’d say I’d just stick to the same pre match meals and try to relax and focus on the game as much as possible.
What do you think has been the biggest area of growth for you personally this season?
Zayd Abada: For me I believe I’ve grown as both a player and as a person. It’s been my first real season in senior football and I feel I’ve matured this season on and off the pitch which came as a result of the more games I played.
As you look ahead to next season, what are your key objectives both personally and with Wexford?
Zayd Abada: We want to get promoted without a doubt, whether it be through the playoffs or coming first, that’s always the goal. On a personal note I’d like to just continue to push on and improve game by game and play as many games as possible.
Next up, my interview with Ryan Ritchie.
How do you feel about signing for Wexford FC on loan?
Having been on the bench for the Bohemians / Schalke game, from watching the game have you learned something from Schalke as they are a top club with big history?
How do you prepare for a game, both mentally and physically?
Was or is there someone that inspired you throughout your career so far? It could be from the League of Ireland or abroad.
Ryan Ritchie: Id have to say my dad, he passed away when I was 13 but he’s the reason I still play to this day. He used to come to every match and helped me on what I should do better. So id have to say him.
What are you aiming to achieve with Wexford FC next season?

I would like to thank Zayd and Ryan for taking part in this interview. I wish them every success, both with the team and personally. Thank you everyone for reading this article and I hope you enjoyed reading it!
