Cork City prepare for their second Munster derby of the week, as they make the trip to Limerick, to face Treaty United, following their second-half comeback on Monday.
Cork City sit top of the tops after the double game-week, eight points clear to be exact. Their weekend started in Ballybofey, with a stalemate ending against Finn Harps. This was only the second time of the season the Leesiders had dropped points and the first time Barry Robson’s side failed to score. It looked like City’s weekend was going to go from bad to worse, as they found themselves 2-0 down to ex-Cork City manager Colin Healy’s Kerry FC at half time. However, it was Seani Maguire to the rescue. The striker went on to score a second-half hat-trick, as his side won 4-2 in front of a 5,300+ crowd.
Treaty United on the other hand sit at the bottom of the table after the conclusion of the first round of fixtures. Treaty’s Friday Night went similar to City’s, with no goal found at the Markets Field in their encounter with Longford Town. Kerry would not be the only team to concede four in the Rebel county on Monday, as the Limerick outfit were dispatched 4-0 in St.Colman’s Park. Dylan McGlade scored a hat-trick in this game, his first since February 2022, against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds. Questions are continued to be asked about Tommy Barrett’s future as Treaty United boss.

Key Statistics
The last time Cork City beat Treaty United in a league match at the Markets Field was in June 2022, in which City dispatched Treaty 5-0.
That 5-0 win for City was also the last time there was over two goals scored in a fixture between Treaty United and Cork City.
Key Players
Seani Maguire is currently the First Division top-scorer. The 31-year-old is coming off the back of an inspiring hat-trick as he carried his side over the line on Monday, to secure the win for his beloved Cork City. The striker has been scoring for fun and has shown immense close control and link-up play when asked to be played deeper as a No.10, which he would not be used to in previous years.
Young Robbie Lynch was linked to a move to Leeside during the off-season, and there is no surprise as to why. The 19-year-old has become a staple at right-back, starting every game this season. He is winning majority of his aerial duels, due to his 6’1 height and is also averaging 1.1 key passes per game.
