Waterford FC Sack Head Coach Jon Daly

Waterford FC have announced the departure of Head Coach Jon Daly and Assistant Coach Richard Forster with immediate effect.

The club currently sits bottom of the Premier Division, with the club on 0 wins from their opening 13 matches of the 2026 league season and are 9 points adrift of ninth place side Sligo Rovers.

Daly, a former Rangers and Dundee United footballer, took charge of Waterford in November last year.

Since then, he has failed to win a competitive fixture for the Blues, as the former St Pats and Dundalk manager has struggled to get Waterford firing this season after a narrow escape from relegation in 2025.

The sacking comes after Waterford’s eight loss of the season, with them losing 1-0 away from home against top of the table Shamrock Rovers.

Waterford FC have confirmed that First-team coaches Brian Murphy and David Breen will take control of the side for Monday’s game against Dundalk at the RSC.

In a statement released on the club website it read:

Waterford FC can confirm Head Coach Jon Daly and Assistant Coach Richard Foster have left the club with immediate effect.

We would like to thank Jon and Richard for their efforts whilst at the club and wish them well for the future.

First-team coaches Brian Murphy and David Breen will take control of the side for Monday’s game against Dundalk at the RSC.
