An underestimating performance from Declan Devine’s men see Bohs Lose 2-1 to Kevin Doherty’s drogs.
This game started out as a boring enough affair both teams starting slow, both teams weren’t really giving away anything much, there was an early chance chance for bohs as Adam McDonnell Came close with a header in the 4th Minute But it was cleared of the Line by Hayden Cann the Lincoln man on loan at Weavers Park this Season.
A few back and forward chances for Both sides nothing really major, Until A mistake was made at the back for bohs and it let the new man at weavers park Franz Pierrot in Looking to lob chorazka but pulled his effort wide
Shorty after, In the 45th minute right on the stroke of half time Evan Weir’s Whipped corner was flicked by Danny Grant into his own net past Kacper Chorazka In the bohs net, This was a blow for Bohs conceding so late in the half.
The second half started and Bohs made one change with Stein Reinkort coming off and Filip piszczek coming on. Bohs who were the team who started the slowest out of the 2, A chance fell to Darragh Markey at the back post from a corner but his effort was blocked by the Bohs defence, on the 52th minute Devine made his second sub Bringing on Dayle Rooney For former shels man Brian McManus
On the 58th minute mark, Drogheda won a free kick from 5 yards inside the Bohs half, Evan weir steps up and blasts a ball into the box and it goes past everyone and bounces in past Chorazka in the bohs goal, This was a poor goal to concede from Devines men, Evan weir familiar with scoring free kicks this season as he hit a sweet free kick up in the Brandywell on the opening day.
This deflated bohs, they didn’t look like they were going to score and they didn’t deserve to either, Devine made a double sub by bringing on Dylan Connolly and James Akintunde replacing Martin Miller and Danny Grant
2 minutes later, A free kick was whipped in by Jordan Flores and Andrew Wogan comes out to claim but he isnt successful in doing so and it falls to James Clarke Inside the box and it is a nice finish on the turn, The Bohs are back in it!
In the 65th minute Adam Mcdonell got another chance at goal as he was played in by James clarke, He lets the ball beat him and strikes with his left foot and it was saved by the young man in the drogs goal.
In the 72nd minute McDonnell loses the ball in the drogheda’s box Gary Deegan picks up the ball and plays it to Darragh Markey and drogheda break forward with Markey, Brennan and new man Steve Bawa, Markey lays it off to Brennan and he plays it to Bawa put he sees his effort go wide of the post.
83 minutes on the clock and Evan weir picks the ball up about 35 yards out from the bohs goal and hits a clean strike and forces Chorazka to make a brilliant save.
4 minutes added on and no real chances came in the last few minutes of the game. And Galvin Colfer blows his whistle up for full time and the games finishes up 2-1 to Drogheda United.
Now for Man of the match, im giving it to Evan weir. Very good on the night, scored and made the first on, he got on the ball a lot and controlled the game for most of it for drogheda from left back.
Bohs face shels at dalymount in the dublin derby on Friday, and Drogheda Go to Eamon Deacy park to play a highly rated Galway side at the minute.
I predict Bohs will beat Damien Duffs shelbourne 2-1 in dalymount, and I think John Caufieilds men will have too much for Drogheda at Eamon Deacy Park, 3-1 is my prediction there.
Thanks for reading my review of Drogheda vs Bohemians.
