BREAKING: Damien Duff Resigns as Shelbourne Manager

The Irish Examiner broke the shocking news of Shelbourne manager Damien Duff resigning, following his side’s 1-0 defeat at home to Derry City.

After winning the League of Ireland Premier Division title in 2024, this season hasn’t brought the same highs. Duff appeared unable to recreate the magic, and as a result, he has stepped down, informing his players on Sunday morning.

This news comes after Duff’s frustrated post-match reaction to Shelbourne’s defeat on Friday night.

“Didn’t deserve anything from it. Huffed, puffed.

I prepared for the game today like I was a professional footballer. My wife probably cursed me at times. Three-hour siesta, ate really well, focused my mind.

I would like to really, really know how many of my players prepared like me or as well as me, which is damning.

There was a severe lack of energy, real flatness, severe lack of quality and you are going to get nowhere.”

The former Ireland international was clearly unhappy with his players and has decided to walk away just weeks before the clubs opening Champions League qualifier.
