Cork City Boss Ger Nash Confirms Ruairi Keating to Feature for U20s as FAI Cup Final Fitness Race Continues

Cork City manager Ger Nash has confirmed that striker Ruairi Keating will feature for 45 minutes with the club’s U20 side this weekend. The forward is continuing his recovery from injury as he battles to be fit in time for next month’s FAI Cup final.

It is less than 20 days till Cork City return to the Aviva after a lengthy absence to take on Shamrock Rovers in a ‘David and Goliath’ style tie although both teams are very well capable of taking home the silverware on offer. City last won the Cup in 2017 while the Hoops won it last in 2019,the 25th title in the clubs history. Shamrock Rovers chase a domestic double against this City side.

After Suffering a cruciate injury in the dieing moments in a game in the Brandywell last April, Ruairi Keating is near to a return in time for the game at the Aviva Stadium. Keating was noticeable at at Turners Cross after the Rebel Army’s Semi-Final win over St Pats. Keating celebrated that night with Sean Maguire whom he collabrated with on an academy project they run in Cork for kids.

The Frontman for City who is very much in the hearts of the Leeside supporters after scoring several goals in the Cross is to return shortly,according to Ger Nash’s press conference ahead of City’s Saturday night trip to Sligo.

It is a good sign to see Ruairi Keating getting back into playing football after his injury denied him to help City in their troublesome season.Ger Nash also spoke also about the likes of Mathew Murray and Harry Nevin returning to grass. His interview seemed positive as the Relegated City side play 2 more fixtures before the final.
