“The Deflated Rebel Army look to win a second consecutive Munster Derby in the Cross”
Kick off is 7:45 Friday 29th August at Turners Cross.
Introduction to the game-
Cork City and Waterford both find themselves in the latter end of the table. In this fixture at Turners Cross Stadium, Both sides will be envisaging a win.Waterford need to bounce back into form after a 2-1 loss to Sligo Rovers to ensure they avoid the playoff trap. As for the Rebel Army they return to the cross on the back of a 3-0 defeat away to Bohemians. Cork city would have to mathematically win 2 more games than sligo before their penultimate meeting in the league but unfortunately relegation looks destined despite recent signs of optimism around the club.
Last time out/Previous game-
Cork City beat Waterford 2-1 in a nail biting FAI Cup quarter final fixture in Turners cross 2 weeks ago. Lonergan scored for the Blues while Young Mathew Murray whom I’d regard as a hot prospect and Kaedan Kamara scored for City.
Key Players-
Cork City FC- I think one player to watch is certainly Josh Fitzpatrick who has proved he has a high work rate and skill and has scored at home against Galway United this season.
Waterford FC- Conan Noonan is always going to be one to watch for the blues as he scored last time out against Sligo and has in fact scored 5 goals in the league this season altogether.
Prediction-
Cork City 2-1 Waterford
I personally see a repeat of the two teams result in their last meeting. Citys home form is to be respected. I can easily see both teams getting the ball in the net Friday night.
