Cork City will have to start the new League Of Ireland season without the versatile Evan McLaughlin.

The Derry midfielder signed for City in the middle of December last year, following a loan spell with Coleraine. McLaughlin came through the ranks at Derry City, but made the decision to move down South.
McLaughlin stated that the 6 hour commute from Cork to Derry wasn’t ideal in making his decision to renew his contract on Leeside for 2025, but the Derry man is committed to helping the Rebel Army avoid relegation in 2025.
McLaughlin will face 4-6 weeks on the sideline before returning to Turners Cross in a bid to keep Cork City in the Premier Division!

Evan McLaughlin was carried off the pitch following City’s 3-1 win over Munster rivals Waterford in a preseason friendly. The initial fear was that McLaughlin may have torn his Cruciate Ligament, but thankfully for the Leesiders it was a Grade 2 hamstring injury (as first reported by @eightyfour____ on X)
