(Dundalk POV)
By Jack McGauley
It’s another Friday night fixture as Derry City host a motivated Dundalk side at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium who as we know have not been up to scratch but are hoping to stick their first 3 points on the board and jump up to 9th with a win if fierce rivals Drogheda United lose at home to high-flyers Shelbourne tonight.
Dundalk are coming off the face of Monday’s Louth Derby stalemate for the second time in its history after it ended 0-0 at Oriel Park with Drogheda’s Luke Heeney being seeing a straight red for a nasty challenge, and then Dundalk’s Archie Davies receiving a second yellow for booting the ball away after a harsh foul.
Meanwhile ‘The Candystripes` are also coming off of a 0-0 draw away to the hands of Shelbourne. Its gonna be difficult as the Northerners who are without Dundalk’s Greatest ever player Patrick Hoban, after signing from the Lillywhites over the January window, he’ll miss out due to injury.
Dundalk have looked actually decent against Shelbourne and Drogheda, i have some good confident for tonight hopefully the town can grab that first +3 of the campaign!
My score prediction: Dundalk 2-1 Derry City
