James Norris joins Shelbourne

The 21 year old English left back joins Shelbourne on loan from Liverpool. This is an exciting signing from Damien Duff!

He comes from Anfield as the final deal from what has been a very enticing transfer window for the Auld Reds.

A brief bit of history.

Norris made his debut for Liverpool on the 17th of December 2019 against Aston Villa in an EFL Cup quarter final where he came on as a substitute.

He also spent a season at Tranmere Rovers on loan beginning in September of 2023. He made 16 appearances throughout the season.

He has also played underage international football, starting for the England U17 side that defeated Poland to win the Syrenka Cup. He made appearances for the England U18 and U19 sides as well.

Overall, most of Norris’ experience comes from the Premier League 2.

Just a week ago on the 9th of February James Norris was on the bench for Liverpools FA Cup loss against Plymouth Argyle.

A new home.

James Norris joins the Auld Reds on loan after a seismic year where they won their first league title since 2006. Norris will likely be in strong contention for the left back position within the squad, most notably against Tyreke Wilson.

He will likely be the last signing of a very exciting window which saw Shelbourne also bring in Kerr McInroy, Mipo Odubeko, Ellis Chapman, Ryan O’Kane and Daniel Kelly.

A final word.

This signing will be interesting, especially considering that Wilson is currently injured for the foreseeable future. We will have to see if he plays against Waterford this Friday.
