Goal Scorers
Kerry FC: Oran Crowe (70)
Cobh Ramblers: Rhys Gourdie (59)
First Half
The game began in lively fashion for Cobh, with Kerry lacking quality in possession. In the third minute, Kerry FC right-back Ewan Lee picked up a yellow card for a high challenge on a Cobh Ramblers player. Just four minutes later, Kerry nearly took the lead when Sean O’Connell’s effort went narrowly over the crossbar.
Cobh continued to dominate, stringing passes together and creating chances, but Kerry goalkeeper Matthew Connor produced several key saves to keep them out.
The first change of the game came in the 39th minute, when Ronan Teahan picked up a knock and was forced off. Former Cork City midfielder Arran Healy came on in his place.
Second Half
The second half began brightly for the visitors, who once again took control at Mounthawk Park. Cobh edged closer to an opener, with Barry Coffey’s cross finding Sam Bellis, only for his effort to drift wide. In the 59th minute, their pressure finally told as Rhys Gourdie fired home to give the away side the lead — sending the travelling fans into raptures.
Kerry responded quickly, withdrawing debutant Daniel O’Connor for Cian Brosnan to strengthen their attack. The change nearly paid off in the 69th minute when Brosnan’s solo run ended with a shot that Timothy Martin tipped just over the bar. From the resulting corner, Sean O’Connell swung in a delivery that Oran Crowe lashed home, sparking wild celebrations from the home supporters, who suddenly believed victory was possible.
Cobh, frustrated by the equaliser, pushed hard to regain the lead and keep their title hopes alive. Dylan McGlade came close late on, but Matthew Connor produced a brilliant save to deny him. In stoppage time, Kerry almost stole it during a frantic goalmouth scramble, but Joe Adams’ effort was blocked by Jonas Häkkinen before the danger was cleared.
The final whistle confirmed a 1–1 draw — a result both sides could take positives from.
