Premier Division
The main talking point across both divisions was for a game that didn’t even kick off as the clash between Shamrock Rovers and newly promoted Cork City was postponed just 35 minutes before it was meant to kick off. The pitch at Tallaght Stadium had passed 2 earlier pitch inspections during the day but a heavy downpour before 5PM meant the League officials required a third pitch inspection and this time the pitch was deemed unplayable. This game will be rescheduled later in the season.

Defending champions Shelbourne are 2 wins from 2 as they came away from Waterford with a 1-0 win. Mipo Odubeko getting the games only going in the 14th minute, meanwhile Waterford finished the game with 10 men as Ryan Burke saw red in the 61st minute.
On Virgin Media last Friday night was the clash between Galway United and St Patricks Athletic. And it was the home side that came away with the points a Patrick Hickey double inflicting back to back defeats for Stephens Kenny side whose goal from Aidan Keena will be up there as a goal of the season contender. 2-1 it finished in Eamon Deacy Park.
Drogheda United were comfortable winners over Sligo Rovers at United Park. Goals from Josh Thomas, Darragh Markey and Luke Heeney earned them a 3-0 over the Connacht side who look like will be fighting at the bottom end of the table this season based on performances early on.
Final game in the Premier Division and an early goal from Micheal Duffy got Derry City their first win of the season as they defeated Bohemians 1-0 at the Brandywell.
It’s Shelbourne who lead the way with 6 points from the opening 2 games and Drogheda United and Galway United giving chase with 4 points.
