Match Preview: Drogheda United vs Sligo Rovers

Drogheda United face Sligo Rovers in front of a sold out United Park in the second match week of the 2025 LOI Premier Division season.

Drogheda started their season off with an impressive defensive performance, picking up a point away to St Pats. Sligo Rovers will be disappointed with their start to the season, they faced Waterford, in what was an entertaining game but ultimately a game that ended in defeat for the Bit O’Red.

Team News

Drogheda United will be without Douglas James-Taylor, Paul Doyle and Elicha Ahui through injury. With the departure of Frantz Pierrot in the winter window and Douglas James-Taylor’s injury, Drogheda are lacking firepower.

Sligo Rovers are also in shortage of fire power. Against Waterford on Saturday night, they were massively misfiring, accumulating a higher Xg in that game than any game last season but were still unable to pick up any points. Sligo are injury free going into game week two.
