Treaty United secured their playoff spot at Ferrycarrig Park last night with a impressive 2-0 win away to Wexford.
In a winner takes all clash at Ferrycarrig Park, Treaty United sealed the fifth and final play-off berth with a composed 2–0 victory over Wexford FC, ensuring their place in the First Division play-offs semi finals against Cobh Ramblers with the first leg taking place next Friday night at the Markets Field.
Wexford made an energetic start to the contest and went close to opening the scoring in just the fourth minute, a neat move down the left ended in a chip toward the box that almost caught out Treaty keeper Corey Chambers.
A draw would have been enough for Treaty United to secure their play off spot, but were never content with sitting back and soaking up pressure for the 90 minutes. They created some good chances in the First half with Patrick Ferry, Mark Byrne, and Lee J Lynch all having chances to test Wexford keeper Paul Martin.
As we approached the half time break, Treaty United thought they had a penalty after Ben Lynch went down in the box but referee Kevin O’Sullivan waved away the protests. 0-0 was how it things stood at the half time whistle.
Four minutes into the second half, We had the opening goal. A long range Mark Byrne strike troubled Wexford keeper Paul Martin, who parried the shot into the direction of Patrick Ferry who was ready pounce and slide in the opener. And in the 66th minute, Treaty had a second.
Lee J Lynch delivered a ball across the box, and Mark Byrne turned provider to goal scorer to double the Limerick side’s lead and put them in a commanding position to extend their season for at least another week.
Wexford thought they had pulled a goal back when Dean Larkin put the ball in the net but it was ruled offside.
2-0 was how the game finished, An impressive performance from Tommy Barrett’s side with a second win in a row following the 2-1 win at home to Bray last week.

Treaty United will host Cobh Ramblers next Friday night for the first leg of the First Division Play Off Semi Finals at the Markets Field before travelling to St.Colmans Park the following Tuesday night for the second leg.
