The Rebel Army are on the road again after falling to a 4-0 loss to St Pats on monday night. This time, they travel to meet the Tribesmen.
Introduction:
Galway slumped to a loss against Sligo Monday night which sees them 3 points below Waterford and in the relegation/promotion playoff spot in 9th place. While Cork City are slumped in the bottom spot of the table and are 8 points below Galway. Relegation looks almost a guarantee for Ger Nash’s side as despite, a recent run of good performances, City are in serious trouble no doubt. This game is going to be a tough task for City to get a result from especially when the side are travelling. Its a bottom of the table clash!
Previous Meetings:
01/08/2025 Cork City 1-0 Galway United
23/05/2025 Galway United 2-1 Cork City
14/02/2025 Cork City 2-2 Galway United
Key players:
Galway United- Jimmy Keohane, a former Cork and League 1 in England player has impressed in the midfield for Galway this season. He is a consistent player for Caulfields side.
Cork City- Benny Couto is recently back from injury. The Portuguese Defender is good in creating play for the Leesiders.
My prediction:
Galway United 2-1 Cork city
Unfortunately, I see the home side scooping the three points up as they look to try and escape any potential drop. City’s away form is simply not good enough. The magic of the cup could possibly elevate Corks poor season if they beat Pats in the Semi finals in Turners Cross next week.
