The first live free-to-air fixtures for the new League of Ireland season have been confirmed by Virgin Media and the LOI, it has been announced on Wednesday.

Virgin Media Two will broadcast five live Men’s Premier Division fixtures over the course of just over two weeks, including TWO Dublin Derbies.

The broadcaster will broadcast two fixtures from the opening weekend, as champions Shelbourne entertain Derry City at Tolka Park on Valentine’s Day and Bohemians play Shamrock Rovers at Lansdowne Road on Sunday, 16 February.

Matchweek two will see live televised coverage of St. Patrick’s Athletic’s trip to Éamonn Deacy Park to take on Galway United on the 21st, before the Ringsend Derby at Tolka Park between Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers on the 28th.

On Monday, 3 March, the first free-to-air fixture involving two non-Dublin teams will take place, as Waterford welcome Cork City to the RSC in the Munster Derby.

All five games are set to be broadcast live on Virgin Media Two, and goals from all other games will be shown during the broadcast.

On Monday, Virgin Media and the LOI secured a four-year partnership which will see the broadcaster air at least one free-to-air League of Ireland fixture per week, as the sole free-to-air broadcaster of the League of Ireland.
