Match Preview: Bohemians vs Galway United

Galway United return to action after the first international break of the 2025 season to take on Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Friday night.

Alan Reynolds side are coming off of a 3-0 loss in a Dublin derby to St. Patrick’s Athletic whilst Galway have continued their great start to the season with a 1-0 win at home to Waterford, seeing The Tribesmen climb up to 3rd in the table.

Team News

Sean Grehan will meet backup with the Bohemians squad after being away on international duty with the Ireland U21’s. Alex Lacey and Robert Cornwall are both unlikely to feature on Friday night due to injury.

Brendan Clarke will be absent from John Caulfield’s travelling squad, which will mean Welsh U21 Evan Watts will remain in nets.

Key Stats

In their four league meetings last season these sides were on par with each other, one win a piece and two draws.

Galway United are yet to loose a game so far this season and are the only remaining unbeaten team in the Premier Division. With Bohemians creating 0.8 big chances per 90 so far this season, unless there is serious improvements it’s unlikely John Caulfield’s consistently solid defence will face too many problems.

Key Players

Six games into the 2025 Premier Division season and we’ve seen nothing of note from Lys Mousset but this could be his opportunity to showcase what he can do in a Bohemians shirt, potentially taking the 0 off Galway’s record and proving all of his doubters wrong. Friday may just be the night that the former Sheffield United striker arrives in the League of Ireland.

After Chris Forrester’s performance against Bohemians last time out, it’s pretty easy to pick out another right sided midfielder in Patrick Hickey to be Bohs big problem this week. Having already scored three goals and picking up an assist already this season it’s likely the former Athlone Town man will be influential if Galway are to come away with all three points.

Betting Odds

Based on both sides respective starts to the season it might be a surprise that Bohemians are the betting favourites at 6/5 with Galway priced at 11/5 and a draw at 21/10.

When and Where to Watch

The game will be broadcasted exclusively on LOITV on Friday the 28th of march and will kick off at 7:45pm.
