Both St Patrick’s Athletic and Sligo Rovers go into their game week three clash with a point to prove after a disappointing start to their respective seasons.
Stephen Kenny’s side were favourites for the title going into the season but after a scoreless draw against Drogheda and defeat away to Galway, their title charge is yet to get underway.
Whilst St Pats are worrying about the title, Sligo will be worrying about relegation after back to back defeats, just two matches into the season many feel John Russell’s side will be making the drop to the first division.

Team News
Both teams go into the game with no injury news.
Key Stats
In the four league meetings between these sides last season St Pats won three and the Bit O’Red picked up three points at the midpoint of last season, winning 1-0 at home, thanks to an Ellis Chapman goal.
St Pats home record at Richmond Park last season was very respectable, winning the majority of their home games (61% wins, 11% draws, 28% losses). Whilst away from home Sligo Rovers only picked up points 55% of the time (22% wins, 33% draws, 44% losses).

Players to Watch
Aidan Keena scored what will likely be a goal of the season contender last time out against Galway United, he will be hoping to be on the scoresheet against his former club Sligo Rovers. Keena scored two against The Bit O’Red at the end of last season and produced a comedic celebration where he displayed the typical hands in the air gesture to show respect to his old club, then followed it with an aggressive knee slide.
For Sligo Rovers it’s hard to highlight anyone after the start to the season they have had but I’ll mention Cian Kavanagh who will be hoping to prove a point to his old club.

Betting Odds
St Pats are priced at a significant 2/5 favourites with Sligo Rovers priced at 11/2 and a draw at 16/5
