Its Matchday 3 in the League of Ireland Premier Division as Waterford travel the longest distance in the league as we face off against Derry City
Past Run-Ins
Waterford really seem to not be able to crack a victory against Derry, falling short in 4 of our last 5 games, with one draw in 2021 and all the losses last season. Derry City have claimed 3 points in 23 of 41 matches, with the blues running away victorious 13 times and 5 stalemates.
Teams
Waterford seem to be suffering recently, as Ryan Burke will miss Friday with a 3 game suspension after a straight red card seen him into the dressing room against Shelbourne, Matty Smith is still out with injury, along with Trae Coyle who is still out with a hamstring injury from pre season, Grant Horton has reportedly suffered a leg injury and will also miss out, McCormack is also still nursing a knock and is not expected to travel. James Olayinka was said to be back in training on Monday, which was confirmed by Keith Long at the fan forum in Bank Lane last thursday. Derry City are reported to be missing Dummingan and Mullan, who have both sustained muscle injuries and will miss.
League Start
Both Waterford and Derry sit on 3 points after Derry lost to champions Shelbourne on opening night, falling to a 3-1 deficit, and Waterford also lost to champions Shelbourne on night 2. Waterford currently sit 4th on the table whilst Derry are in 6th position by goal difference.
Predictions
Although I would love to see us come away with all 3 points, with our form against the Candystripes, I just dont see us coming away with anything, and I will put down a 1-0 loss. The artificial pitch will definitely play a part in this game and be a risk. Thats all from me!
