Mick McDermott SACKED By Cobh Ramblers

Cobh Ramblers have confirmed this evening that Mick McDermott is “no longer first team manager, 4 days out until the first leg of the First Division play off semi finals.

The announcement comes following a weekend full of speculation surrounding McDermott’s future after a post on Instagram from the Belfast man aswell as being absent from the touchline for the final game of the season last Friday night against First Division champions Dundalk.

The club released a statement on X (formerly Twitter in the past hour saying:

Cobh Ramblers Football Club can confirm that Michael McDermott is no longer First Team Manager. We would like to thank Mick for his service to the club this season and wish him well in the future. Richie Holland will take charge of the team on an interim basis for the upcoming playoffs. As we enter this important stage of the season, we encourage all supporters to get behind Richie and the squad. The support of our community has always been at the heart of the club, and we look forward to continuing that journey together — through the playoffs and into the future. McDermott had guided Cobh Ramblers to their highest finish in the First Division in 8 years finishing as runners up to Dundalk and were considered favourites by many to go up by the playoff route as they prepare to make the trip to the Markets Field to take on Treaty United in the first leg.

Richie Holland takes over as interim manager for the remainder of the season. Holland had been McDermott’s assistant manager and has previously been caretaker manager at Cork City in 2023.
