PREVIEW – Bohemians vs Drogheda United

Bohemians will be eyeing up just a second win of the season on Monday night when they return to Dalymount Park after a four-month absence.

They will welcome high-flying Drogheda United to the Home of Irish Football, who themselves will be looking to keep up their positive start to the season, after a 1-1 draw at home to Galway United on Friday.

United currently find themselves third just three games in, having not lost a game yet.

Bohs meanwhile have had a stuttered start to the campaign, following a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cork City at Turner’s Cross on Friday night.

It will be even more of a kick in the teeth as the Gypsies wasted several chances throughout the game.

Alan Reynolds will be looking for a winning return to Dalyer which might mean making several changes to Friday night’s squad.

He will be without the suspended Rob Cornwall following his second yellow card in the Second City, and will have to consider whether or not to start striker Lys Mousset, who has been questioned with regards to his fitness.

However, the former Waterford assistant to Keith Long returns to the dugout following suspension, meaning conditions should (in theory) return to normal on Monday.

Drogs, on the other hand, will be looking to utilise their sound defensive record in the league so far to grind out a result.

Kevin Doherty has deployed a back five in recent months, which has allowed them to keep the best defensive record in the league so far this season.

However without the injured Douglas James-Taylor, who is set to miss another six weeks of action, and the likely absence of striker Josh Thomas, makes the Boynesiders look a little bit dull in attacking areas.

It is likely that the strike partnership of Warren Davis and Steve Bawa will start the game in reflection of Friday’s game. However, Doherty may look to swap Thomas Oluwa into the side after several promising appearances off the bench.

Paul Doyle and Elicha Ahui also remain doubtful as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.

The Boynesiders currently have no suspension worries.
