PREVIEW: Can Relegation Worried Rebels Keep Bohs at Bay?

After a break which has interrupted a purple patch for Dublin’s red and black side, Bohemians will be looking to continue their fine vane of form when they travel down the M8 to face a Cork City team in crisis.

The Rebels find themselves in crisis as they lie second from bottom just one point above basement side Sligo Rovers. This, despite the appointment of Ger Nash as manager in mid-May.

However, the Kildare-man has failed to hit the ground running in his first three games at Turners Cross, with his first point coming in the final game before the international break at home to a struggling Shelbourne.

City have not been helped by their injury woes however. with Ruairí Keating and Sean Maguire both experiencing periods on the sidelines.

The latter returned to the Starting XI Vs Shelbourne, marking his comeback with a goal.

However, despite the presence of Premier League linked Cathal O’Sullivan, Cork have failed to win a game since they won the Munster Derby in April.

The basement side are one point behind ninth place Sligo Rovers, whose manager John Russell is also under pressure.

This is in stark contrast to a Bohs side who, since their narrow win over tonight’s opponents, have gone on to lose just two out of eight matches, including a derby win away at Shamrock Rovers and a Northside derby win over Shelbourne.

Much of that has been attributed to the contributions of Sean Grehan, who will be making his final appearance in black and red tonight.

The 21 year old will be returning to his parent club, FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, after today’s game, having scored two injury time winners at home to St. Patrick’s Athletic and away at Galway United.

That will put manager Alan Reynolds in a tricky spot with Alex Lacey remaining out with injury, as well as Kian Best, who was recently let go from Preston North End.

Bohs sit six points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers with a game in hand on both the Hoops and Drogheda United above them.

The Gypsies have the potential to go within three points of their South Dublin counterparts and leapfrog the Claret and Blues into second place. Not bad for a team in crisis before April, right?
