Treaty United will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Bray Wanderers when they welcome runaway leaders Dundalk to the Markets Field to start round 2 of fixtures in the League Of Ireland First Division.
Last Time Out
The sides last met back in gameweek 4 when Treaty United came with a late charge to come from two goals down to return back to Limerick with a point thanks to a Lee Devitt 90th minute header.
The goals have dried up for Treaty United’s key midfielder who has failed to score in the last in the last 5 games including a missed penalty at home to Kerry FC.
Contrasting Starts
Dundalk have 100% lived up to the favourites tag since getting relegated last season and are very much on course to return to the Premier Division at the first time of asking. They finished up round 1 of fixtures with 8 wins and 1 draw from the opening 9 games the draw coming against Treaty United at Oriel Park. Dundalk will come into this game as heavy favourites to come away with all 3 points to continue their fine run of form.
For Treaty United however, They have only managed to pick up 11 points from the opening 9 games of the season and will feel like they have left a good few points behind them including that opening night defeat to Cobh Ramblers when they led 2-0 with 4 minutes to go only to lose 3-2. Treaty United look set to be without key player Lee J Lynch again for this game who has only made 2 appearances for the Limerick side this season as he continues to struggle with a niggling injury. Tommy Barrett and his side will go into the game feeling they can get something from it having went to Oriel Park and been very competitive when the 2 sides clashed back in gameweek 4.
Prediction
I am expecting a close game in the Markets Field, Treaty United have always been known for being a tough side to break down and I am not expecting tomorrow night to be any different. Dundalk have been on the correct end of a number of 1-0 victories this season and I think this game has a 1-0 Dundalk win written all over it.
LOITalk Prediction: Treaty United 0-1 Dundalk
