Sean Russell Steps Down As Treaty United Women’s Head Coach

Surprising news coming out of Limerick tonight, as Treaty United confirm that Women’s Head Coach Sean Russell has departed the club.

According to the “42.ie” Russell departs his role due to a lack of clarity surrounding his future for next season aswell as lack of clarity of plans for the women’s team in 2026.

It is believed Sean Russell wanted to see out the remaining 2 games of the Women’s Premier Division but will be leaving his role immediately.

Treaty United FC today announces that Sean Russell will depart his role as head coach of the women’s first team,” a club statement read.


“The club extends its sincere thanks to Sean for his contributions to the women’s programme.”
Treaty CEO Ciara McCormack said: “Sean has been a valued member of our club and has played an important role in building standards for our women’s side on and off the pitch.
“On behalf of everyone at Treaty United, we thank him for his hard work and wish him the very best in his next chapter.”

This announcement comes as a massive shock to not just Treaty United supporters but supporters of the league in general with Treaty United already achieving a records points total with 2 games remaining since the club was founded in 2020.

Treaty United had also reached the semi final of the women’s FAI Cup under Russell’s stewardship losing out to Bohemians at Dalymount Park. Their remaining games of this season are against Bohemians and Waterford.

It is also believed that Russell’s first team coach Craig Madigan has also departed the club.

No official announcement from the club has been made about who will take over the side for the remainder of the season.
