Waterford FC have issued a short statement this morning announcing that manager John Coleman and assistant manager Danny Ventre have left the club with immediate effect.
The news comes following a 6 straight defeat in a row on Friday night away to Shelbourne, A result that has now left them in the relegation playoff places behind Galway United on goal difference.
145 days since Coleman was appointed manager on the 6th of June when he took over from Keith Long who had guided Waterford to the Premier Division. Despite a bright start under his reign with a win against Galway United on his first game in charge, Coleman was only able to register 4 more wins in the 20 games he was in charge.
The last of these wins coming on July 25th with a 4-2 win away to Galway United. Since that result it has been 7 losses and a draw, A run of results which have inevitably cost him his job. An average of 0.95 points a game from his tenure.

Where To Next
Speculation around Waterford supporters is that Matt Lawlor will return to the club on a interim basis until the end of the season. Lawlor aswell as Club Owner Jamie Pilley, COO Will Watt were at the RSC on Monday night for Waterford’s 2-1 defeat against Shamrock Rovers which led to the start of speculation that Coleman’s job was under pressure.
Waterford’s next game is on Friday night at home to Drogheda United.
