It’s gameweek 7 as the Blues take on Sligo Rovers in the RSC. Sligo come into this fixture in 3rd place in the table and the Blues in 4th. These teams have battled it out many times in the past, most recently in 2021, where it ended out in a 1-1 draw in the Showgrounds, with Andre Wright opening the scoring for Sligo in the 42’ minute, but they didnt hold out for long as Phoenix Patterson pulled the game back in the 50’ minute. Sligo have been more successful in head to head, winning 9 of the last 25 matchups with the blues, and ourselves with 8, and 7 draws between us. The Blues look to bounce back from a simple 0-0 stalemate game away to Dundalk, with very little action all game.
Injury wise, may possibly be without starman Barry Baggley, who sustained an injury whilst on international duty for Northern ireland, also Darragh Power is a possible loss through injury suffered away to Derry, Newcomer Connor Evans also looks to be a doubt as he recovers from a concussion received in training. The Blues have recently been playing in a 5-4-1 formation which seems to be working for us as we have been on a great run of form for a recently promoted side. Ones to watch also including Connor Parsons on the wings, Podge Amond up top and Sam Sargeant in nets
Predictions for the match, were on a decent run of form with a near full strength squad which could cause Sligo problems, but being without the likes of Darragh and Barry absent, it could pose a defensive struggle. Going off that I think a 1-1 draw wouldnt be a half bad thought. Thanks for reading and as always,
