“Hopefully We Can Give Them Another Big Night to Celebrate”

Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett and defender Richkov Boevi have issued a rallying call to supporters ahead of Friday night’s First Division Playoff Semi-Final first leg against Cobh Ramblers at the Markets Field.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Barrett highlighted how crucial the Treaty fans have been all year and urged them to once again play their part on what could be another special night at the Markets Field. The Limerick side are aiming to keep themselves firmly in the tie before next week’s return leg in Cobh.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s playoff semi-final, Tommy Barrett said he’s hoping for a big turnout at the Markets Field, the first time in 2 years since playoff football has been at the Garryowen venue. The Treaty United boss praised the supporters for their backing all season, saying the team “have had fantastic support all year” and that he’s hopeful “we can get our biggest crowd of the year.” Barrett added that his side want to “give a good account of ourselves on Friday night so that we’re still in the tie going into the second leg,” and is hopeful Treaty can “get through to the next stage of the playoffs — something we haven’t done before.”

2022 was the last time Treaty United were at this stage of the competition when they came out on the wrong end of 7-4 defeat on aggregate to Waterford who went on to win the playoffs, but lost the promotion/relegation final. Lee Devitt and Mark Walsh the only survivors from the team that played the second leg at the RSC, with Fionn Doherty on the bench that night.

Defender Richkov Boevi echoed his manager’s message when speaking to LOITalk today, describing the game as a massive occasion for the squad. He said he’s “buzzing for Friday” and praised the Treaty supporters, who he feels have been “unreal all year” in driving the team on. Boevi added that the players are fully focused on delivering for the fans once again, saying, “hopefully we get a big crowd out again because it makes a huge difference. Everyone’s ready to leave it all out there and hopefully we can give them another big night to celebrate.”

Treaty United will hope to take a lead to St.Colmans Park on Tuesday night and will be hoping the people of Limerick get behind them for what promises to be a massive Munster derby clash under the Markets Field lights.
